Maria do Carmo Serzedelo grew up amongst antiques. She gratuated in Interior Design at Fundação Ricardo Espiírito Santo in 1968 studying the theory of interior architecture, learning how to combine functionality with harmony and beauty. But, before that, she had already aquired the taste and flair for antiques and beautiful surroundings hands on, helping her father, portuguese azulejos' expert, José Manuel Leitão, in his antiques store «Solar».
From 1983 to 1985, she is living in Paris and takes a two years course at the Centre d´Étude d'Art et du Mobilier, in Paris, specializing in XVIII century furniture. Her hobby during class intervals is to whatch sales at art auction house Drouot.
Back in Portugal, from 1989 to 1993, she becomes a partner in the family antique shop Solar leaving to work with her brother Pedro, who lives in New York City, specializing in Azulejos and Stones.
Carmo Serzedelo Antiques & Design combines the experience of a lifetime dealing with antiques and decoration. We sell unique, orginal and authentic antique stones, adding Carmo's inimitable taste and eye to make each space unique and harmonious.
Carmo Serzedelo is a firm believer in mixing the modern with the old, the polished new with raw, lived in, noble materials such as stone.
In the tradition of classical civilizations, of renaissance and of the grand tour, antique stones, be them in the form of construction material such as floors and steps or of decorative objects, give personality to any space.
